Capital Will Be Close To Guntur: Cm

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the new capital region for Andhra Pradesh would be located very close to Guntur and dropped enough hints about his plans to build a world class river front capital abutting River Krishna.

Mr. Naidu, however, did not elaborate further on the proposed ‘land pooling’ policy sensing a possible resistance from farmers in mandals upstream of Krishna. Farmers in Tadikonda, Amaravathi and Tadepalli mandals have voiced their concerns over the possibility of losing their lands and livelihood in case the State government decides to acquire lands.

The proposed capital would be built with people’s support, Mr. Naidu announced during the launch of ‘Janmabhoomi - Maa Vooru’ programme at Savalyapuram mandal in Vinukonda constituency.

Earlier, Mr. Naidu declared that he was committed to implementing his promise of waiving off crop loans and said that 20 per cent of farm loan of each farmer would be credited to his account on October 20 by Farm Loan Empowerment Committee and farmers would be given bonds for the remaining amount in January.

Earlier, the CM launched ‘Neeru-Chettu’ programme by planting saplings on the premises of Loyola High School in Vinukonda.
