3 Years Old Girl Victim Of “Communal Rape” In Lakshmi Puja In Burnpur,

Burnpur, West Bengal; CW News Desk: A three years old girl became the victim of heinous “communal rape” by an allegedly teenage rapist named Mohammed Asif Khan in the industrial area of Asansol in West Bengal. Mohammed Asif Khan, a boy who looks like post teenager though he claims to be 16 years old, has raped a girl during Lakshmi Puja. Mohammed Asif Khan resides in the residential quarters provided to the IISCO Steel Plant employees in Gurdwara Road, Burnpur, the industrial area of Asansol subdivision in Burdwan district.

 

Tonight around 8pm the child was playing at the outside of her house near Gurdwara. Right there observing the absence of any guardian of the girl Mohammed Asif picked her and took her to a nearby bush and there he molested the baby. However when the child was shocked at what was being done with her by Asif and some of his friends from nearby Rahmat Nagar according to some whispers, the girl started screaming due to pain and the local people rushed in to the site. This was no surprise for them though, they rescued the girl and started beating Asif who was totally naked. The other friends escaped however.

The local Hindus and Sikhs dragged Asif slapped him though his way to his house and started questioning the parents of the girl. However till then the police has been informed by the relatives of Mohammed Asif and the police arrived when there was a stone pelting between Mohammed Asif’s relatives and opponents.

According to locals Mohammed Asif was a known ill-mannered boy and he had a track record of abuse against the girls and women of a particular community. He is said to be beaten by some Puja authorities in this Durgapuja due to his reported misbehavior to some girls attending the Puja. Asif is said to be in an eve-teaser group that abuses the girls on communal basis.

Despite this shameless act the family of Mohammed Asif and his relatives showed no sign of remorse and more than that they went further by saying that the girl “might have provoked Asif to do what he has done, she asked for it probably,” aware or unaware of the age of the victim. The sect of Asif was blaming the 3 years old girl in short infant dress to be provocative and inviting rape.


On the other hand the role of local police is critical. At the very arrival of the police it is said to be in offensive mood against the victim party. The Officer-in-charge of Hirapur Police Station Abhijit Chatterjee reportedly advocated the rapist saying he “just took the girl for a ride or walk”. The police is blamed of suppressing the rape case. The rapist Mohammed’s family however tried to use “juvenile” card while being nervous at the arrival of law enforcement. Taking a u-turn they though silently accepted the rape case but claimed that the age of the boy is 15 or 16 and certainly not above 18. As a matter of fact, this “juvenile minority” trick has worked in many rape cases and remarkable among them is the infamous Delhi rape case where the main rapist who raped the victim twice and who injected the iron rod into the genital parts of the girl, Mohammed Afroz was spared of sentence while others were sentenced to death.
