12% Growth In Railway Income

 Indian Railways have posted over 12% growth in revenue between April and August this year, earning Rs.61,324.64 crore as compared to Rs.54,496.73 crore earned during the same period last year.

“The earnings on originating basis stood at 12.53%,” an official release said.

Revenue earnings from passengers during the period were Rs.17,700.16 crore as compared to Rs.14,758.01 crore during the same period last year.

Total number of passengers booked were 3,508.68 million compared to 3,467.60 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 1.18%, the release said.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during the period was 1,932.83 million and 1,575.85 million, respectively, it said.
