ARYA Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 IPPUDE MAA APICE LO SHARING SESARU... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORdbeMRitGg Elon Musk unveiled a couple intriguing updates to the Model S. The “D” he tweeted earlier resulted in a flurry of speculation and some ridiculous fascinations with that particular letter. Like many hinted to, the D stands for dual motor, now making the Model S available in an all wheel drive variant. This is much more that just better traction however. Due to the nature of an all electric drive setup, by having two motors, the vehicle is actually able to be more efficient and more powerful at the same time. The top of the line P85D now boasts 691 hp and accomplishes a 0-60 time just north of 3 seconds. This makes the Model S P85D the fastest accelerating sedan in the world. I got a chance to take a test ride and experience the acceleration first hand. It is absolutely insane! The Autopilot features are pretty amazing. We’ve heard and read a lot about self driving cars. Tesla is now delivering cars with this capability. The vehicles that are being built now include all the hardware necessary to not only assist a driver but potentially not need a driver at all. The types of sensors and control units on the car allow it to fully sense its surrounding and react as needed. It senses lanes and steers, reads speed limit signs and adjusts speed, slows down and stops when things are ahead of it, changes lanes by itself when the indicator is used, etc. Most likely, these features will roll out over time but they are all possible now. Check out my video of the test ride below
