The reason is last year my in laws got some jewellery from india and took it back with them, they had it in a bag..they only had some handwritten paper receipts,in case customs ask...customs did not ask for anything...

Also,Do you think we have pay customs on the jewellery we really bought in usa??

i think the reason the coustoms guy could identify the bangles because the design 

the gold shop uses same design for all customes who like to carry gold to india 

and the desgn they use usaually suit for old age people.
