First the 400KV lines coming to 400KV substation at Kalpakka or PGCIL steel plant needs to be restored. Next the substation needs to be restored. From there power is sent at 220KV to Gajuwaka and othe places, all the lines and substations need to be restored From here power is sent at 132KV to different substations, all these lines and substations need to be restored From here power is sent at 33 to different substations, all these lines and substations need to be restored From here power is sent at 11KV to small transformers on the roadside. All most all these transformers are destroyed. From these transformers power comes to your home. I have given this explanation to make you all understand the gravity of the problem. Please don't expect overnight results. The challenge ahead is huge. It is like climbing the Mount Everest. But AP has good leadership and some of the best electrical engineers. EPDCL Vizag is one of the best run electrical utilities in the country. Even the western world would have taken months, our engineers and workmen will do it in weeks. Don't criticise them stand behind them.

zzeb Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Spoke to my parents today and they told me, trees in the house got rooted out. Vizag had extensive trees in the city. Today a little over 80% of the city's green cover is gone. It takes roughly more than 2 decades for the trees to grow back to that level. For a city with heavy industrial base this is extremely sad.
