ARYA Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 For the better or for worse, we leave up to you to decide. Of course, the movies listed below are the ones that are officially on record; to say naught of the fact that Aamir Khan has himself admitted that his production house tosses out a whopping amount of TWO HUNDRED scripts in a year! Once you get your brains unscrambled from processing that shocking admission, have a look at the eight Bollywood movie rejections that shaped Aamir Khan’s career: Darr Apparently paranoid about portraying negative roles onscreen, Aamir is said to have rejected the script for Darr. Anyone else wish that he still had that paranoia in place before signing on the soap opera that was Dhoom 3? Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge Given that even the most diehard Salman Khan fan would agree, however grudgingly, that no one other than the irrepressible King Khan could do justice to Raj, it comes as a mighty relief that Aamir sent the script of DDLJ flying in the direction of the recycle bin. Dil Toh Pagal Hai Ditto. Although we can’t say the feelings of relief were mutual for Aamir Khan once Dil Toh Pagal Hai charted box office history. Josh The 2000 crime thriller again holds the dubious distinction of having been rejected by the perfectionist, and given the movie’s dismal performance at the box office, we’re guessing that Aamir’s bank balance couldn’t be gladder for it. Mohabbatein In what is now beginning to feel like a disarming trend, a quick sift through Aamir’s leftovers helped SRK land the critically acclaimed 2000 musical after it was rejected by the former. And the list doesn’t end there! Shah Rukh repaid the favor by rejecting these blockbusters that went on to become the shining highlights of Aamir’s career: Lagaan One glance at the page of the script alone ought to have let SRK know that he had a winner on his hands, but for reasons unknown he decided that Oscar nominated movies weren’t his thing and Lagaan eventually found its way to Aamir Khan. Rang De Basanti Likewise, Rang De Basanti had Shah Rukh’s name written all over it until he decided to pass the critically acclaimed film on to Aamir instead. 3 Idiots In a puzzle befitting the talented mastermind Rancho, Shah Rukh turned down Rajkumar Hirani’s cult classic, with the movie again landing up with yours truly.
