International flights will resume from nov 1. ************** Vizag: Vizag airport will resume operations from Friday, after sustaining extensive damages in the wake of cyclone Hudhud. The decision to resume operation was taken by the Director General of Civil Aviation, the Bureau Civil Aviation Security in consultation with various airlines. Air India will restart its operations on Friday, with the following schedule: AI 251- Departure from Delhi at 13:30 hours and Arrival at Visakhapatnam at 15:40 hours and it will depart from Visakhapatnam at 16:30 hours and arrive at Hyderabad at 17:30 hours. Cyclone Hudhud hit Vizag airport to resume operations from Friday International operations will restart after some time. The intention is to start immigration facilities at the earliest so that international flights can start by November 1. Nine other airlines will start functioning on Saturday, with the following tentative schedule, which will be finalized and announced on Friday. The intention is to start immigration facilities at the earliest so that international flights can start by November 1. Provisions are being made for the reopening of four counters to facilitate check-in for passengers. Efforts are also being made to reconstruct in a short duration, toilets, shops and food counters for passengers. The existing VIP lounge is also being made available to senior citizens, women and infants. The conveyor belt and aero bridge will also be made operational after due inspections. The radar antenna, which was completely damaged, will be replaced and made functional within a month. Restoration, repair and renovation work relating to the civilian terminal will start immediately and is likely to be completed within the next three months. For the time being, however, the Vizag airport will operate with no air conditioning and minimal furnishing.
