COURTHOUSE >> After deliberating four hours, a jury Tuesday handed down two death sentences in the case of Raghunandan Yandamuri, who was convicted last week of murder in the killings of Satyavathi Venna and her 10-month-old granddaughter, Saanvi.

After the sentence was announced, the jurors individually confirmed they had all voted for the death penalty in both murders.

The jury of seven men and five women was released at 4:45 p.m. to begin deliberations after receiving final instructions.

During the sentencing hearing Tuesday, First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele thanked the jurors for serving justice by first convicting Yandamuri of two counts of first-degree murder. He then asked they finish the job by sentencing Yandamuri, 28, to death.
