Northern: Get outdoors now to catch the last of the color from the Oak trees around Hawley and Lake Wallenpaupack. You can also see some of the final days of the foliage throughout Wayne County. The other areas in this region are well past peak colors with the trees becoming barer as the weeks go by. There are approximately 30-60% of leaves on trees depending on the area. This region has passed peak color.

Central: The Oak trees are changing into deep red and orange tones with the occasional yellow peeping through. The Sugar Maples are displaying bright yellows and oranges, while the Sassafras are still showing vibrant mixtures of yellow, red and orange. Some trees like the Birch and Ash have turned yellow and begun to lose their leaves. Though the Red Maples have also lost some of their leaves, you can still catch a glimpse of their bright reds and oranges in certain areas. Full color is at 90% with 70% of leaves on trees. The projected date for peak color is October 16-19.

Southern: Look for the recent rains and cooler temperatures to play a key role for the foliage this week. The heavy rain expected for the region will cause some of the leaves to fall to the forest floor. The landscape will show some of the bright reds from Red Maple along with the yellows of the Birch, Aspen and Tulip Poplar, which have been holding onto their foliage the past few weeks. The Oaks will now begin to show off their colors throughout the scenic overlooks and vistas. This week you'll start noticing some deeper crimson tones out of the Red Oaks along with some yellow colors from White Oaks and Chestnut Oaks. Full color is at 80% with 75% of leaves on trees. The projected date for peak color is October 18-22
