Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure that the state gets its due share of electricity from power plants in Andhra Pradesh. "It's your legitimate duty to see to it that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act is implemented in letter and spirit," the chief minister told a news conference. He alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was denying Telangana of its due share of electricity in violation of Reorganisation Act, which allotted the new state of Telangana 54 percent share of power generated in the power plants in united Andhra Pradesh. Hitting hard at Mr Naidu and blaming him for the electricity crisis in the newly created state, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief said he was also ignoring the directives given by the Central Electricity Authority on electricity sharing. KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, declared that Telangana will go to Supreme Court on Naidu's refusal to give electricity from the plants in Krishnapatnam. He said Telangana should get 1,422 Megawatt from Krishnapatnam and Hinduja plants. "Telangana has an investment of Rs.1,050 crore in Krishnapatnam power project. How can you deny us our due share," he asked Mr Naidu. He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh is drawing 220 Million Units from Krishnapatnam plant. KCR said Telangana was also not getting 540 MW from Sileru project. He challenged Mr Naidu for an open debate on sharing of electricity and river waters and said he was even ready to go to Vijayawada for the debate.
