It's 'daily Serial Of Lies' By Telangana Ministers: Parakala

HYDERABAD: Taking serious objection to the statements by the Telangana government and irrigation minister T Harish Rao, AP information advisor Parakala Prabakhar asked them to stop the 'daily serial of lies'.

Addressing mediapersons along with AP irrigation minister D Umamaheswara Rao, Prabhakar said AP had given 769 million units of power to Telangana generated in Andhra Pradesh during the last four months. Pooh-poohing the Telangana ministers' argument that AP consumed more power, Prabhakar said that while discoms in AP consumed 1,621 million units during the last four months, the Telangana discoms used up 2,224 million units during the same period.

Condemning Harish Rao's statements, Prabhakar said GO No. 233 had never mandated that the water level at Srisailam should be at 834 feet. "One minister says farmers in Telangana are dying because of AP. The same day, another minister refutes this to say that power shortage had nothing to do with the farmers' suicides in Telangana. The Telangana government dishes out different versions on power and water on different occasions," said Prabhakar. The media advisor produced copies of GOs 69, 107 and 233, and challenged Harish Rao to explain where the water release in Srisailam was allowed at 834 feet.

Irrigation minister D Umamaheswar Rao raised concern over Telangana releasing water from Nagarjunsagar without taking into account the drinking water needs of the people of Nalgonda, Khammam and Hyderabad city. "Telangana government is attempting to damage AP's interests, but in the process is only harming itself," he said.
