ChandraSekharCherukuri Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 All ideologies that survive without change for that long tend to be theocratic. Hindu scriptures too, unless added to, will sound absurd without favourable interpretation. But Hindu scriptures don't attract low class morons, because even interpretations are complicated by design. Its best to ban Islam, until its interpreters find a consensus narrative that is reflective of the modern world.
donganaaK Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 like how masala movies attract more viewers than an abstract movie. Hinduism attracts pretentious converts, Islam attracts low class morons. how can some one "convert" to hinduism .... I think its more like a way of life than a religion ..even our supreme court ruled that its a way of life http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Hinduism-is-a-way-of-life-SC/articleshow/1087322.cms
gargicau Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Anyway its time to move past religion. Its just local culture that still keeps religion alive. I find it funny when I read that so and so has converted to so and so religion.

There's no one who's going to object to that white/black man calling himself a Hindu. According to our scriptures, I think the ultimate aim of every Hindu/Sanatana Dharmi is to fuse with brahman (not the caste).

gargicau Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 cool ... so to which caste does a converted hindu belong to ? .. just curious castes are not written in stone. In olden time, that guy can start a new caste, and work his way(along with the caste) up the hierarchy, based on his talents and the people he attracts. Many Kapu, Reddy groups called themselves kshatriyas once. who knows how many other castes were created, splintered and merged. you bribe a brahmin, and he'll make you whatever you want. Except a brahmin. :) But that ecosystem has been destroyed now. Hindu 'way of life' doesn't exist anymore. Its just scattered pieces of local culture with a national conscience based on some commonalities. Anyway since large scale conversion into 'Hinduism' doesn't happen anymore, the single person's spiritual journey into the brahman doesn't need any caste name.

DaleSteyn1 Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 oh, you are the 'I respect all religions equally' type aa.. Simple concept i love my religion(hinduism).I don't hate or care about other religions

So , technically if a guy converts to hinduism then the brahmin can decide abt the caste that he belongs to ?
siru Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 I am always puzzled as to what makes one a Hindu? There are no hindu scriptures... The scriptures we have are Based on Sanatana Dharma..And those scriptures guide us on how to lead our life.. even if we were to adapt sanatana dharma as hinduism.. I bet 99% of "hindus" dont follow the scriptures.. So how can we be called hindus when we dont obey what was written?
