They attribute the rise in land prices in the VGTM are to the Telangana agitation. The enhanced activity charged by the realty rush has contributed to latent employment for several rural youth and farmers in the VGTM region, who have become real estate agents, says Gopi, a farmer-turned-real estate businessman.
Strange it may sound, but it is true. There are several farmers in the Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri (VGTM) region who attribute the meteoric rise of land prices to K. Chandrasekhar Rao and thank him for facilitating it.

For Madhusudan Rao, the sexagenarian farmer from Narukullapadu near Amaravati, earning crores of rupees is an unbelievable thing. “I’ve seen lakhs but never even dreamt of making crores through sale of land. I sincerely thank KCR for that. But for his fight and the Telangana State, our insignificant village land couldn’t have been valued at Rs. 1 crore per acre,” said the farmer who is a graduate in English literature.

That doesn’t mean that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is being looked down upon. “He’s a visionary, has mammoth plans and promises to fulfil. We are waiting for him to prove himself. We have faith in him. But, KCR has already proved his mettle,” the farmer sums up.

The enhanced activity charged by the realty rush has contributed to latent employment for several rural youth and farmers in the VGTM region, who have become real estate agents, says Gopi, a farmer-turned-real estate businessman and another admirer of KCR. “He might hate Andhra people for the sake of Telangana, but he is our man who has roots in Vizianagaram. KCR is the first man to suggest the capital here near Amaravati. We all are thankful to him for that,” Mr. Gopi from Amaravati reasons out.

Though the government has kept the vital information on the exact location of the capital close to its chest, the latest rumour on the expected secretariat, three ring roads, a High Court and other buildings in the VGTM region is keeping the region alive with brisk business. The result is a regular sight of swanky cars and SUVs from Hyderabad, Chennai and Visakhapatnam that fuel realty fire in the region.
