CKRAVI Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 HYDERABAD: In a move that could put an end to the power shortage in the state, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will sign an MoU with his Chhattisgarh counterpart to buy 1,000 MW of power from Chhattisgarh. Telangana government officials were currently in touch with their Chhattisgarh counterparts to find out the available dates of Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh for signing the MoU. “Raman Singh will leave for Delhi on Wednesday. Once, he returns from Delhi, we will fix appointment of both the chief ministers,” an official in energy department told Express. The dates of chief ministers of both the states should be available to fix the date for MoU, the official added. Asked whether the MoU to buy 1,000 MW power from Chhattisgarh would be signed before the commencement of Assembly session, the official said that they could not say the exact day of signing the MoU. It may be recalled that an official team visited Chhattisgarh recently and requested the state to sell 1,000 MW power to Telangana. In the second phase, the Telangana is keen to purchase another 1,000 MW power from Chhattisgarh. Though, Telangana officials initially thought of laying dedicated transmission lines between the two states for flow of power, the proposal was shelved later due to cost factor. Now, the power purchased by Telangana would be flowed to Southern Grid and it would reach Telangana through existing lines only. :police: :police:
