Hyderabad: The ongoing power crisis has altered the budget plans of the Telangana government. The Budget Session of the Telangana legislature will commence on Wednesday and the first Budget will be presented on the first day itself. 

 

The original focus of the first Budget was to be on welfare schemes, irrigation, roads and infrastructure development. The severe power shortage has forced the government to allot more funds for purchase of power.

 

The Telangana government has spent Rs 150 crore over the past month, purchasing power at Rs 5 crore per day on average since last month. The bill is only set to grow bigger.
