Somewhat true. But again, you gotta teach your kids the importance of money. Money value ante face value matrame kadu, there is hard work involved anedi nerpali.

I see that most parents are like, "I have struggled in my life, so that my kids can enjoy." In those cases, kids do get spoiled. Instead, teach them how to earn for them selves. Teach them about dignity. Indians mostly, dignity of labor recognise cheyaru. When I was in India, I used to earn my own pocket money by working at Pizza hut. Oka sari, telisanavallu akkadiki vacchi nannu chusaru. night maa intiki vacchi, your have enuf, why is he working ani disco kosam. my dad was like, its good he is working, he is earning for himself unlike other kids who just drain their parents money.

 

I've a better idea that I follow.

 

I take my nephew(a really well behaved 6 yr old kid) to a toy shop. show him all toys. bring him back. Make him draw the toy he liked most, and if that resembles any toy in the shop, we go back again and buy that :)

 

To date, I've bought him zero toys :)

 

I have an even better idea when he gets to his teens.

Well, every kid will go through a rebel phase. I did too. But luckily, my dad stood by me during those times as well. And laxed some of the rules, eventually when I understood what he was trying to do, I went back on track and self-imposed those rules on me.
