I heard US do not allow renouncing citizenship by minors until they reach 18 years. Can you please clearly state the process?

well minors have diff rules as you cant make life decisions for them, i would say keep your kids citizenship , as he will always have a choice to be back and do what ever he want to, if he already has poi whats the issue as a matter of fact he wont do much earning till 22 in india so, why dont to go easy on that important part of decision?

i dont think its possible to cancel existing citizenship, it will be a fundamental birth right of the kid, he is born in the US, he is a rightful citizen of this country only, u might be able to get good insight based on an attorneys evaluation, but u cannot play around with ur kids fundamental rights man.

And now PIO rules have also been relaxed..

Your child can stay indefinetly in India..even without reporting to local police etc

Can enjoy all privileges as that of Indian citizen except voting ,Govt Jobs and owning agricultural lands

I know many kids who are US citizens and staying in India for many years

 

If you have planned ealier,you shoudl have directly applied for Indian passport and your child would have possibility of applying for US citizenship (if he wishes in future)based on the birth certificate

Do you know the possibility of getting Indian citizenship to my child who is born in US. He is about 1 year 5 months old now.

He already hold the US passport and has PIO card and travelled to India.
