recently my friend came back from india.....

 

he has his H1 visa untill May 2017....his passport expires on Jan 2016....

So immigration officer told him he cant give the date as per H1 visa since his passport is expiring earlier and he would give jan 2016.

 

Now in online...he is seeing the same date that his passport expires..

 

so what is the situation...does he need to do anything or ???

na friends 4 members ki same date vundhi..... i m not sure if u left the country and came back.... Online lo YES ade expiry date vundhi......   :P

 

Btw: My passport expires in 2018

Lol if u go to online to check ur i-94 then on the top of the screen it says (Which is same for all as its not changing, meaning its there like that on the top even before u enter your details) OMB No. 1651-0111 Expiration Date: 11/30/2014

I-94 lo em date untundo aa date varake nee status valid annattu. doesnt matter if ur H1B is valid for more, you will still fall into out of status.

 

i think you will hve to exit and enter US with your new passport or your employer has to file for extension of stay with USCIS.
