Divorced man, neighbour's wife commit suicide in Tamil Nadu

 

MADURAI: A divorced man and a woman killed themselves by jumping in front of a speeding train near Tirumangalam in Madurai district on Monday night. 

The deceased were identified as Rajendran, 36, of Subbaiahpuram near Vilathikulam in Virudhunagar district and Shanmugathai, 32, of the same area. Shanmugathai was a married woman. 

Police sources said Rajendran had married a woman from Thirupuvanam in Sivaganga district a few years ago and had a child. However, the couple got divorced in a few years. 

Rajendran had been in relationship with Shanmugathai for the past few years. He had been working abroad and returned a few months ago. 

The sources said the couple had left their respective houses four days ago and visited a few places before reaching Tirumangalam. They jumped in front of the Pothigai Express train, bound for Chennai, at around 9.30pm. 

The bodies were sent for postmortem.
