Story Of Rahul - A Car Cleaner

❝ This boy Rahul earns his livelihood by working as a car cleaner in my housing society. Paid a meager 250 rupees per car, it is quite obvious how difficult it must be for him to make ends meet with his income of 6000-7000. 

And this is why it is an extraordinary act of honesty.

Yesterday, early in the morning, he came to me with a Lava mobile phone he had found near our car. He wondered if it belonged to any of us..... When I told him that the phone was not ours, he asked me what he should do with it then. At first, I told him to hand it over to the society guard who would write a 'lost and found' notice. But he seemed a bit reluctant, not sure if the phone would reach its real owner.

On second thoughts, I went through the contacts list and called up a lady's number in it. She told me that the number and the phone belonged to her friend who resides in a nearby society. When Rahul heard this, his face lit up with happiness and relief. Without a further word he left, assured that I would hand over the phone to its rightful owner. 

The owner of the phone thanked me profusely and blessed the car cleaner for his selfless and honest act despite being poor and needy. After all the phone could have fetched him 500 rupees, if not more, in the grey market. But he chose to tread the path of honesty.
