Yuva Nataratna Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 Wireless devices often lose Internet connectivity whenever the microwave oven is running. Here's why it happens and what you can do to fix it. The problem is that both microwave ovens and Wi-Fi operate on the same frequency, 2.4 GHz. In theory, a properly shielded microwave shouldn't leak any radiation, but the reality is that they leak quite a bit, resulting in electromagnetic, or radio-frequency (RF), interference. And yes, Wi-Fi is a radio signal, but it's broadcasting on a much higher frequency than most broadcast radios operate on. This interference at 2.4 GHz can be caused by common 802.11b and 802.11g wireless devices, like routers, along with Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, cordless telephones, video senders, and microwave ovens. Other sources of interference can include toaster ovens, electric blankets, ultrasonic pest control devices, electric bug zappers, heating pads, and touch controlled lamps. Spartan Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 not only microwave ovens..also cordless fones.. anduke e madhya phone devices are coming at different frequency range of 6GHz ....coz most of the home users connect the fone devices and routers nearby...

Yuva Nataratna Posted December 3, 2014 Author Report Posted December 3, 2014 Does the effect increase with microwaves emitting power It might.... Best thing is to change your router or gateway's frequency to 5 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz if that option is available...
Puri Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 It might.... Best thing is to change your router or gateway's frequency to 5 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz if that option is available... SO finally how to overcome it? of face cheyyalsindey na?
kakatiya Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 dual band routers vadochu.. 5ghz offers more badnwidth as well.. but interference from microwave is negligble.
