vaade_veedu Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 I didn't know flipkart pays VAT on the products they sell in India It must be new ground for amazon then. Oh I don't know this.. back when I was in India Flipkart used to sell its own ( books)
vaade_veedu Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 "Flipkart will be doing the transactions as a Service Provider and not as a trader. So it will be the Seller who will be raising the VAT/CST invoice in name of buyer and Flipkart will be charging some amount X for service and will only pay the 12.36% of the amount X as service tax." "Flipkart doesn't do drop-shipment. They usually procure the product from the vendor, bring it to their warehouse and then ship it to the end consumer. They are very careful about the last mile delivery. However, Snapdeal has drop-shipment relationship with many vendors and it follows the eBay model in that respect. It only acts as a middle-man for collecting the payment from end consumer and the vendor actually does the billing to the customer. Snapdeal only pays service tax (12.36%) on the gross margin it makes for that transaction. The payment is made to the vendor via credit note on a monthly or fortnight basis."
