Pakistan scored 389 runs in the allotted 40 overs, owing to a century by Mohammad Jamil and a 43-ball 75 by middle order batsman, Mohammad Akram. India's Amol Dattatray Karche took 2 wickets for 71 runs. India got off to a poor start as they lost their first 2 wickets before their score reached even 50. Thankfully, a 3rd-wicket stand of 78 between Deepak and Rao stabilized the innings. Then India lost 2 more wickets and it seemed that Pakistan would win the tournament for the third time. But a quickfire 38-ball 89 by Prakasha Jayaramaiah, which included 11 fours and a six, helped India fight back. He was supported on the other end by Ketanbhai Babughai Patel (76) and Ajay Reddy (74*).

The match was a thrilling one as India managed to score 390 runs with only 2 balls to spare.
