I completely agree with you regarding meteoric rise in YSR\\\\\\\'s brand image from 2004 to 2009. But, remember he had more or less the same political knowledge in 2004 or even 1999.

Regarding Chiru, politically he is a dumb a-s, no doubt about it. But his image would have helped him in 2004, given the extreme anti-incumbency against CBN. If he had done the same pada yatra like YSR, may be he would have sweeped the polls.

anti-incumbency is one thing and the way you capitalize is entirely different thing. YSR realized the anti incumbency against babu, especially amongst the farmers and took up the padha yatra to attract the masses and the farmers. NTR did the same with his chaitanya ratham yatra or whatever in 1983.

Opposition parties can only come into power by capitalizing the anti-incumbency of ruling parties. There is no room for opposition parties if the ruling party doesnt have a negative opinion in the minds of the people.  ---- YSR himself said these words in one of his interviews before 2009 elections

But if opposition parties fail to capitalize the anti incumbency of ruling parties then they are political dumbos.
