Till Hindus keep bickering among themselves about caste and creed, they will be taken advantage of. That's how many Indian political parties have made their living. Hold one or two numerically dominant castes in the state , and minorities. Win the elections. 

People need not be fanatical about Hinduism, but Hindus should take pride in their being so, and should strive to learn more about their religion/culture. This sense of pride should supersede that  of their caste or community.

The real treasure for a hindu lies in our scriptures, be it Vedas, Baghavatam,Maha Bharath etc...
