afuser Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 A unit of Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) rare personal computer, Apple 1, was sold for $365,000 in an auction held yesterday at New York. The computer was anticipated to sell for $400,000-600,000. The auctioned machine was initially purchased by Bruce Waldack, an entrepreneur who died in 2007. A few months ago, the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mirch, bought an Apple 1 PC for $905,000. One of the very first computers manufactured by Apple, the Apple 1 has now become a vintage; Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak is said to have built and sold these machines himself when he first founded the company. The rare PC sold yesterday is reported by BBC to be functioning well. Around 50 Apple 1 computers are believed to exist at this point. Back when the Apple 1 was sold commercially, it had a price tag of $666.66. The very first Apple 1 computer was purchased by Charles Ricketts; the computer was eventually named after the purchaser, Ricketts Apple 1 Personal Computer.
