National Energy Conservation Week (December 14-21)
Let's pledge to save power!

CBN launched the Energy Conservation Week and administered pledge to government officials concerned on the need for saving energy which was crucial considering the scarcity of resources like coal and natural gas.

The Government is all set to create awareness among consumers on the need to switch over to LED bulbs, being provided by the Government at Rs. 10 each against their market value of Rs. 400. CBN is hopeful of saving energy to the tune of 500 MW daily, amounting to 12 million units, through the DSM (demand side management) based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP). Consumers can also save 85 per cent energy and enable consumers to cut down on their energy bills.

8.2 lakh LED bulbs have already been distributed in Guntur where the programme was launched.

Biocon to set up a unit in Vizag!

Pharmaceutical giant Biocon's Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD) Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw met CBN yesterday and said that the company is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in Vizag in the next six months. She also gave a presentation on e-healthcare and its advantages, telemedicine & e-diagnosis. According to her, the e-diagnosis concept would be beneficial to people living in rural areas who do not have access to healthcare services and wouldn't have to travel to cities for treatment.

Ms. Shaw informed CBN that Biocon is running pilot centres in Odisha and Rajasthan. The company is rolling out 50 centres in Odisha and 100 centres in Rajasthan on a pilot basis. Responding to this, CBN told Ms. Shaw that AP is willing to roll out 100-200 pilot centres.

IIIT in West Godavari!
NIT in Agiripalli in Krishna District!!

Education is at the heart of CBN’s two competing visions for the 2029 development agenda – one centred on eliminating poverty and the other on sustainable development where every citizen is equipped to lead happy, fulfilling lives in a secured environment.

In tune with this, CBN carried out a review with officials over setting up of national institutes in the State and improving the standards of education. It is well-known that the Centre has accorded permissions for IIM in Anandapuram of Visakhapatnam district, IISER in Chittoor district and IIT.

Since Vizianagaram was found to be unsuitable for setting up a Tribal University, CBN has asked the officials to check out Sabbavaram and Kothavalasa in Visakhapatnam district. The Central University will come up in either Hindupur of Anantapur district, or near Tirupathi.

“I never go back on my word. That is why I stood for every farmer’s family as an elder son and upheld their self-respect. I pursued loan redemption to see joy in the eyes of every farmer. I made the impossible, possible. We are also giving horticulture farmers Rs. 10,000 each.

I will bring Krishna water from Srisailam to Rayalaseema. I aim to develop water resources in Rayalaseema such as lakes and ponds and improve the ground water table.

Every household will have internet in the coming 3 years. I will make sure that farmers market their crops in Delhi and Mumbai from the comfort of their homes. I will reduce the farmers’ dependence on middlemen and make agriculture profitable."

- CBN
