Lingaa Review

Story:

 

 

There is a 70 year old Lord Siva temple in a village called Singanoor. The temple was closed on the day it was built. It was built by Lingeswara Rao (Rajinikanth), an oxford educated engineer who is also the local Zamindar. He builds a dam for local people and spends all his money in the process. When the local leaders decide to reopen the temple, they are in search of the grandson Lingaa (Rajinikanth). The rest of the story is all about how Lingaa comes to know about the greatness of his grandfather and how he lives up to the reputation of his grandfather.

 

 

Performances: Rajinikanth has done two roles, One is Lingaa and other one is Raja Lingeswaran. Lingaa role doesn't have much scope, the other role of Raja Lingeswaran is like a mix up of Rajni's earlier movies/roles and he was at his best. Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha were okay as female leads. K Viswanath was fine, Santhanam's comedy was okay and others all were okay.

 

 

Technical Departments: 

 

 

Story-Screenplay-Direction: Story line is Age Old but Good Screenplay and Direction could have taken it to the next level. Unfortunately K S Ravikumar was not able to the needed job.Screenplay is just adequate for the first half. Taking was very ordinary and movie progresses without much happening, comedy scenes were okay. But the movie picks up pace as the scene shifts to the village and Pre Interval scene of Temple Robbery worked out very well. Flashback opens on a good not but the Interval Scene lacked the Punch. Second half was not up to the mark because of Boring/Lengthy narration except for few good scenes. Much time was wasted on Flashback part and because of that Climax appears all of a sudden and that nonsensical Action episode brought unintentional comedy. Overall K S Ravikumar failed to make a good/proper movie.

 

Other Departments: Dialogues were okay, Camera work was good. Editing could have been much better. Music by ARR was not at all up to the mark, all songs went unnoticed except Mona Mona.

Background Score was only good in parts. 

 

 

My Rating: 5/10

 

 

Analysis: Lingaa- Has all the ingredients of a Good Commercial Entertainer. But Weak Direction, Boring Narration and Unintentionally hilarious climax work against the movie. Rajini tried his best to make it up for it but that was not enough.

Okay annanu ga, iddaru okarakamga movie ki minus,  iddari ki iddaru drummulla unnaru :D, abbo bharinchalem, sweety ante role takkuva kabatti torture takkuve, intro scene lo aa langa voni lo vammo :O
