Commemorating the completion of one year in government of the Vasundhara Raje regime in Rajasthan, the NDA announced projects worth Rs 64000 crore to Rajasthan. While Rs 60000 crore investment will be in the ‘power’ sector, Rs 4000 crore will be used to fund nine new national highway projects. What’s more, a further Rs 540 crore has been earmarked for the setting up of three solar parks in the state along with the promise that a further Rs 10000 crore would be pumped into Rajasthan in the coming fiscal year for construction of more roads. Here we have a residuary state of Andhra Pradesh deprived of the revenues of Hyderabad and having to start from scratch all over again! The recent cyclone ‘Hudhud’ has proved to be a further drain on the finances and most importantly, the ruling Party is an alliance of the NDA at the Center. Yet, Rajasthan gets huge sops and benefits simply because it is a BJP ruled State, whereas AP to date has not gotten even what was promised constitutionally as per the ‘AP Re-organization Act’. Despite having two Telugu ministers in the Center, the great Venkayya Naidu and Ashok Gajapathi Raju, what have they got for AP? Maybe these two honorable ministers should consider a bungee jump into the ‘Ganga’

After unilateral and one-sided division of united AP in which then incumbent Congress and Opposition BJP played their parts perfectly, not even a single promise made then has been delivered by the Centre so far. Forget about the "financial package" to the new capital and "underdeveloped" Rayalaseema, North Coastal Andhra, not even "Special Status" is accorded to the truncated state.

Meanwhile, the recent cyclonic storm Hudhud had created a havoc in Vizag and three other districts. Centre had then agreed to lend its "complete" help is now backing out. PM Narendra Modi rushed to Vizag and categorically announced a Rs 1000 Crore relief package "immediately". The fact is that government has only released Rs 400 Crore so far. Recently, the government of AP has sent the detailed list of losses incurred due to Hudhud and estimated it as Rs 21,908 Crore. The Union Government has now taken a big U-turn and apparently stated that the loss wouldn't be that "much". It has asked AP Govt. to come to Delhi on Monday (Dec 15) to discuss on this matter. It is learnt that Centre is ready to shell out additional Rs 680 Crore but not more than that.

Looks like, the people of Andhra Pradesh are yet again "deceived" by Centre and receiving 'set backs' one after the other. The moot question is why Opposition parties like Congress (at Centre) and YSR Congress (at State) are tight-lipped? BJP, which went to polls that it'd fulfil all the promises made in AP Reorganization Act, is clearly dilly dallying the issue. It's time to recall the popular phrase, "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied."
