now assuming a 2% growth rate on a 650mil pop in the beginning of 80s, roughly 13mil people were added to the population that year.

 

adding and subtracting people who snuck into India from bangladesh, srilanka, burma, from people who died and went off abroad, it's safe to assume that 13mil kids were born that year.

 

which gives me an average of 35000 kids born on that particular day.

 

assuming a higher birth rate for muslims, dalits, obcs, 50% of those births can be discounted for caste/religious incompatibility.

 

another 20% of those births took place in govt hospital, that are not from those castes, but are not well off..

 

puts me within 10000 shy of Shriya Saran, translates into odds of me hitting a $100k jackpot.

the numbers are a bit off there.

 

little research told me that hardly 5% of births happened in private hospitals those days.

 

after accounting for half of them born as girls, with whom I don't have to compete for Shriya Saran.

 

so even accounting for higher number of kids born on that particular day.. I would be 1000 shy of Shriya Saran.
