TN gets very less percentage of the central taxes back, because of its good performance. almost zero chance of someone from TN shaping Indian politics. --------------- Tamils don't hate North Indians. They simply don't care about their existence. In fact, its the north indian who gets visibly agitated after landing in chennai and goes through a phase where he confronts every tamil with a sympathetic ear, with taunts of why Hindi isn't spoken in Chennai. but things are changing. Hindi people have toned down their open hatred for tamils, while in chennai, and tamils have responded in kind by trying to speak Hindi whenever possible. It may be because of the change in kind of immigrants to chennai. in the 80s and 90s, it was the white collar employed north indian who came in and spoke confidently intimidating the tamils and forcing them to adopt a defensive attitude. these days, most of these white collars head to bangalore, and chennai attracts a huge low level labour from these northern states. Now these people are more respectful in their interactions with tamils, and the tamils view of north indians have mellowed down. In any case, they've never hated north indians. Nor have their been instances of any racial violence in chennai. They are simply wary of new comers who dictate terms to them. --------------------------------- politically, and economically, TN elite feel that they'll be better off as a separate country. because they are not land locked, and have a huge diaspora that they can leverage. So there may be some acrimony (only maybe) when a brash north indian joins in an exclusive tamil group. But economic considerations will override them. The magic to win over tamils, is to attempt to speak their language. even a couple of sentences in tamil will do the trick. and they won't judge your accent, and laugh at you. ------------------------------------ Indian tamils don't have any particular love towards Lankan tamils. The one's making the most noise is the fringe. They may feel sad at Lankan tamil's situation, and welcome them into their societies. But major parties haven't found any electoral benefit in going of their way to try and influence foreign policy for the sake of lankan tamils. Also lankan tamils don't prefer to come to India. Only the poorest among them turn up here.

simplee Posted August 27, 2015 Report Posted August 27, 2015 me and Shriya Saran were born on the same day!! now assuming a 2% growth rate on a 650mil pop in the beginning of 80s, roughly 13mil people were added to the population that year. adding and subtracting people who snuck into India from bangladesh, srilanka, burma, from people who died and went off abroad, it's safe to assume that 13mil kids were born that year. which gives me an average of 35000 kids born on that particular day. assuming a higher birth rate for muslims, dalits, obcs, 50% of those births can be discounted for caste/religious incompatibility. another 20% of those births took place in govt hospital, that are not from those castes, but are not well off.. puts me within 10000 shy of Shriya Saran, translates into odds of me hitting a $100k jackpot. but I never did cash my check :( In fact, I was unaware of the bounty until now. vorni analysis ne 10go
