Seven Dwarves

The concept of naming Apple computers based on Snow White characters used to actually be a consideration. There were 7 different computers each named after all 7 dwarfs. Each computer was designed based on the individual dwarf.

As you can see, the Dwarves prototypes were very rough and non-functional, but they give you a good idea of the direction Apple was headed from the very start.

Seven Dwarves Accessories

In addition to the 7 dwarf computers, there were specific mice and styluses that were made for the computers. The mice were uniquely shaped with an apple on each one. The styluses were white and much thicker than most styluses today are. Here you can see a variety of the mice that resemble Apple's one-button concept. Also, a snippet of the Bashful prototype tablet.

1980's iPad

Not many people would actually believe that Apple had any prior designs of the current ipad in the 80's, but they did. This ipad design was much bulkier than the current design, but it did have the same rectangular shape. A portable desk and keyboard was also included in this original ipad design.

Early Jacks

Apple jacks were originally loosely shaped like an apple and were much bulkier than the traditional jacks of today. They really worked their Apple logo from the start.

BabyMac

In 1985, the BabyMac concept was designed. This computer was a miniature version of the macbook design. It was propped up so that the keyboard could fit conveniently under the monitor.

Apple Lisa

In 1982, the modular Apple Lisa was a popular idea among the company. This computer was thick, bulky and resembled many of the old computers of the 90's. The keyboard had a gray covering on the key pads.

Lisa Bench

To make the Apple Lisa less bulky, a work bench was designed. The monitor of the Apple Lisa came off and attached itself to the work bench. The bench also included a built in keyboard, mouse and printer.

Early Apple Phone

Early phone designs from Apple were actually pretty low tech. They were heading in the direction of sleeker modern design, but didn't get around to such high tech levels for a few years.

Early iPhone

This table phone had the idea of an iPhone - a screen to have more functionality than simply a phone. Not too bad for a desk phone.

Early iPhone Use

Here you can see what it would have been - a tablet and phone mixed in one! This type of invention may actually prove useful still in the future, it was way ahead of it's time.

Original Macbook

Today's popular macbook had some interesting designs too. The laptop could be used traditionally as macbooks are used today. However, there was a stand that allowed the monitor to be separated from the keyboard.

Original iWatch

The original iWatch design was simple. It was a black, thick piece of material with a rectangular shape that included a set of numbers and letters. The iWatch also came with a headset.

New York Macbook

There used to be a design for a macbook inspired by New York. This 1984 concept was quite unique indeed. It featured a square, black monintor with a propped up keyboard stand.
