Yusuf Pathan Slaps Jeering Spectator

VADODARA: Baroda all-rounder and India discard Yusuf Pathan manhandled a spectator during the Ranji Trophy tie between Baroda and Jammu & Kashmir at Reliance Stadium on Tuesday. 

 

According to Baroda Cricket Association officials, the spectators sitting in the pavilion were mouthing profanities at Yusuf when he was walking back to the dressing room after being dismissed for 9 in the 84th over on Day Two of the match. 

 

"A spectator sitting in the pavilion used lewd language that angered Yusuf. The same group of spectators had also jeered at Baroda batsmen Kedar Devdhar and Ambati Rayudu. Yusuf called the spectator and got into scuffle with him and slapped him. The spectator's elder brother later apologized to Yusuf for his brother's behaviour," said BCA secretary Anshuman Gaekwad. 

 

"The match referee has taken note of the incident and sent a report to the BCCI. It's a level III offence but Yusuf has been reprimanded for the first time in such case and hence he may not be banned for the next match," he said.
