Worship of Rama started in the 11 th century. Till then he was viewed as a human. In Rigveda, there is absolutely no mention of Rama or Krishna. The elemental gods like Indra, etc were primarily worshiped along with the trinity. Ramayana seems to have been written in 400-500 BC while Mahabharatahas its origins in 900-300 BC. [Interesting trivia Ganesh worship started in about 300-400 CE ]

[Interesting trivia Ganesh worship started in about 300-400 CE ] Dwapara lo krishna came in sampoorna avatar of vishnu, so that might the reason behind it, kani appudu kooda raghu vamsham, ramayanam cheppukunovallu, anjaneya was also there in dwparayuga.. lakshamana is balarama in dwapara like krishna was rama.. correct kadu bhayya.. vedas lo rama sabdam chala sarlu vundi, krishna too.. it just that people have conceive those.. ramyana exact timings are still unknown..
