ndian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke the world record for most number of stumpings in international cricket after he effected his 134th dismissals on day two of the third cricket Test against Australia in Melbourne on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Dhoni set the record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

He surpassed Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara when he stumped Mitchell Johnson off the bowling of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for his world record dismissal.

He reached the landmark in his 460th innings while Sangakkara has 133 stumpings from 485 innings.

Sri Lanka’s other keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana is third on the list with 101 stumpings from 270 innings, while another Indian, Nayan Mongia is 10th on the list with 52 stumpings.

Dhoni has 38 stumpings to his name in Tests, 85 in ODIs and 11 in T20s.

The second-placed Sangakkara of Sri Lanka has 20 stumpings in Tests, 93 in One-day Internationals and 20 Twenty20s.

Lol...Yeah I'd like to see that....But it wont happen though......If Dhoni decides to giveup captaincy, he will retire from tests. He dont like to see him playing as a batsman alone under Kohli captaincy. Moreover, that will lead to ego issues b/n Dhoni & Kohli.

If India lose this Australia series also (which is most probable result), then Dhoni will retire from tests. But he will announce his retirement from tests after WC2015.  He will continue as ODI captain  for another 2-3 years. May  continue upto 2019wc who knows.
