actually, if you have a good credit history you can apply for multiple cards at a time....mostly you apply for credit cards from different banks, but 4-5 cards is too much....2-3 cards is fine :D

both amex and chase give higher limits (given you have a good credit history and you already have a card with a HIGH credit limit)
