People had to wait for several days to enjoy the chill after zero degree Celsius was recorded on December 21. Incidentally zero degree temperature was recorded for the second time during the season this year. Earlier only once during 2012 and 2013 temperature had dipped this low. People from Visakhapatnam and neighbouring districts are flocking to Lambasingi, located more than 1000 metres above sea level amidst thick forest on the ghat road from Visakhapatnam to Chintapalli — about 15 km from Lambasingi — to enjoy the chilly climate. Some good news is in store for them as the weather conditions are expected to continue, according to a scientist of Acharya Ranga A.P. Agriculture University's Regional Agriculture Research Station at Chintapalli Desagiri sekhar, who is in-charge of IMD's weather monitoring unit located in the station's premises. Even as the zero degree Celsius temperature is attracting more tourists, the chilly weather is causing a lot of problems to the people of Visakha Agency as the minimum temperature continues in single digit. Chintapalli recorded 3 degree Celsius, Paderu 6 degree Celsius and other places also experienced similar temperature. Fevers, cough and cold and joint pains are bothering people while diarrhea cases are also being reported.
