Bengaluru Blast - Integration of Technology to assure security:
City police deploys drone aerial cameras to monitor New Year celebrations

In its efforts to provide a secure and hassle free environment to the residents of Bengaluru city, the police deployed drone aerial cameras to monitor the new year celebration in the central district area. The bomb blast that happened on 28th December, claiming the life of a 38 year old lady, led to a high alert in Bengaluru, as a result of which
this step was taken. The remote controlled drones were capable of
capturing visuals from a height to 50 mts to 60 mts and were
monitored live by police on MG road, Brigade road, Lavelle road and
church street.

This was the first time when drone aerial cameras were deployed for new year celebration security, keeping in mind the bomb explosion that disturbed the peace, as told by Sandeep Patil, DCP Bengaluru. Apart from this, ten watch towers with 2 police men on each were also installed with night vision binoculars. The entire area was sensitized with the help of bomb disposal squad and anti sabotage checks. A strict check was implemented to avoid any kind of misbehavior or harassment. In its strict adherence to law along with the integration of technology, Bangalore City Police was successful in providing a warm welcome to the new year.
