Sterilisation Operation Done Under Torchlight In Jharkhand.

In a shocking incidence reported in Jharkhand, the surgeons of a state run clinic, sterilized nearly 40 women under the guidance of a torchlight, because of the absence of power. Occurrence of this act soon after the november incidence, has once again raised fingers on the sincerity of government authorities and doctors involved in this. The irresponsible behavior did not just stop here. The sterilized women were moved out of the operation theater and were made to sit or liedown on floor in the corridor in the absence of stretchers, blankets and attendants.

India is world's top sterilizer of woman and this is highly effective in controlling population. Despite of this fact, there is no proper infrastructure and facilities available for patients who are treated like a mere object. What else can even be expected from a system that sets targets for the number of sterilization to be conducted in a year and even offers cash incentives to health workers and women for doing so? It is this fact that leads to ignorance and bypassing of all basic safety norms. Once again an inquiry will be launched and the same incidence will be repeated in some other part of the country, like always.
