Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asked Australian businessmen to invest heavily in the new state and the new capital city. Addressing the Australia-India Business Summit, the CM wooed Australian investors by flaunting his “good relationship” with the BJP government at the Centre and his experience in developing Hyderabad as one of the global destinations for investments in IT sector. Sean Kelly, Australia’s consul-general to South India, said discussions focused on how Australia can assist AP as it develops its new capital city at Vijayawada. Mr Naidu also with Australia’s trade and investment minister Andrew Robb and discussed new opportunities to boost trade.

timmy Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today invited Australian companies to invest in the state, especially in sectors like energy, mining, resources, infrastructure and financial services.Addressing India-Australia Summit, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi, he also sought investment in food security, agriculture, water management, education, tourism and health, technology and information technology sectors.Mr Naidu was confident that Andhra Pradesh will become a pioneering state in development in all sectors by 2029. He said since Andhra Pradesh is the new state, the central government of India will "very soon" announce a special package and this will help the state attract more investments. He said the state is geared up to become the "logistic hub" for the country because of its "strategic location". The state is further expanding its port infrastructure, connectivity through road, rail and air, besides industrial estates.Mr Naidu told the investors that his government has announced a new industrial policy, under which investment proposals will be cleared at a single desk. Claiming that the state has immense potential to attract industries, he said it has abundant human and natural resources.Mr Naidu told the summit that his government is in the process of developing a Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Region between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada Region in an extent of 603 square km.He said Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor has lot of scope for mineral-based industries, leather training industry, automobile and glass industry, while the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor could benefit petroleum, steel, fertilizer, power, minerals, edible oil refineries, automobile, textiles, cement, chemical, biotechnology and food processing sectors.Earlier, Mr Naidu met Australian Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb to discuss emerging new opportunities to boost trade and collaboration.Australian High Commissioner to India Patrick Suckling said the relationship between Australia and Andhra Pradesh has been growing rapidly, and there is a great opportunity to deepen ties further, said a statement."Andhra Pradesh is one of the most forward-looking states in India, and has shown that it is open for business," Suckling said.Robb and Naidu discussed potential collaboration between Australia and Andhra Pradesh in a number of key areas of Australian expertise, including mining, infrastructure, dairy, water, education and road safety.Mr Naidu also met Australian Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs, and Australia's Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Richard Colbeck. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday made a strong pitch for investments by Australian companies in various sectors in the State to make it one of the best destinations in the country. Speaking at the India-Australia Summit organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Taj Palace, Delhi, the Chief Minister cited energy, mining, resources, infrastructure, financial services, food security, agriculture, water management, education, tourism and health, technology and IT sector as areas in which Australian companies could invest. He reiterated that proposals would be cleared by a single desk within 21 days. Declaring that the Government of India would soon announce a special package to Andhra Pradesh, he expressed confidence that more investors would come to A.P. His government was marching ahead with a vision of seven missions, five grids and four campaigns. He stated that India and Australia shared a strong and warm friendship based on multicultural democratic traditions and institutions. He said Australia had proved to be an attractive destination for Indian companies. Highlighting some of the key initiatives, he said the government was in the process of developing a Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Region between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada region in an extent of 603 sq. km. There was lot of scope for mineral-based industries, besides those relating to leather training, automobile and glass in the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor. The Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor has the potential to attract investments in petroleum, steel, fertilizer, power, minerals, edible oil refineries, automobile, textiles, cement, chemical, biotechnology and food processing sectors. Mr. Naidu said the new State was poised to become the logistic hub for the country because of its strategic location. The State was expanding its port infrastructure, road, rail and air connectivity. He also touched upon the potential to attract investments in temple tourism, eco-tourism and adventure tourism. Referring to the pre-eminence of A.P. in crop production, he said there was a mega opportunity in food processing. “We are promoting mega food parks for accelerating growth in the sector,” he added. The textile and apparel industry is set to grow into a multi-billion dollar opportunity as Andhra Pradesh is the third largest cotton producer in the country. Besides mentioning about the world-class ‘Pharma City’ near Parwada in Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister said A.P. was endowed with a large number of mineral resources.
