Spartan Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 BlackBerry's still clawing its way back into mobile relevance, but that's not stopping Samsung from a takeover attempt, according to Reuters. Samsung execs recently met with their BlackBerry counterparts and reportedly offered as much as $7.5 billion for the Canadian firm, sources say. Samsung's particularly interested in the company's precious patent portfolio. Of course, the deal would also instantly make the Korean electronics giant a major player among enterprise customers, as well as auto companies relying on BlackBerry's QNX connected car platform. A takeover would be less ideal for BlackBerry -- after all, it was a smartphone pioneer before it got blindsided by the massive success of the iPhone and Android. It's slimmed down and refocused its business to stay afloat, but if the Passport is the best BlackBerry has got, perhaps it might be better off finding a rich suitor. Update: BlackBerry just issued a statement saying it "has not engaged in discussions with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry." That's more definitive than the typical "no comment" statement we get from these sorts of rumors, but there's still a chance execs met informally to discuss a possible takeover.

BBM is not just App like Whatsapp man.. aina FB paid 20B for Whatsapp..BBM ki 7.5B is less...compare cheste....

BBM is not just App like Whatsapp man.. aina FB paid 20B for Whatsapp..BBM ki 7.5B is less...compare cheste.... a patents litigation kee defence thapa deniki panikiradu unless they license it out n use inhouse so that it could generate cashflow for the company. FB will take a impairment loss on their FS once whatsapp user base goes down - its not gonna happen anytime soon - need a very strong competitior or next IT thing. aina I dont know understand basend on what, they used such high multipler for whatsapp. 20B is too much.

I think FB tracks everything from ur chats and shows u targeted ads whenever u use FB ... antha over value chesi whatsapp ni konataaniki idey no.1 reason ankuntunna ....... lekapothey i dont see any other reason for a company like FB to buy whatsapp ...... Google twitter ni konna kaani there's nothing significant it can gain from it ... u shud read about this company called Palantir , deeni main business is to gather as much user data as possible .... even government agencies buy data from it ...
