New App & Kiosk for Women security

CBN’s Government is striving to bring the police closer to common man, with a people-friendly approach. Better policing and women security are being given the highest priority. For this purpose, CBN’s Government launched the iClik (Instant Complaint login Internet Kiosk) centre and ‘Abhayam-safety for sure’ mobile application as a pilot project in Visakhapatnam. 



Highlights of iClik :

· The I-CLIK facility will enable women, who are generally apprehensive about visiting a police station, to file a complaint online from the kiosk. The first kiosk is located at CMR Mall, opposite the District Court Complex
· Kiosk will be equipped with modern facilities including a computer, high-speed internet connectivity, air-conditioned space to sit. No policeman will be on duty and it will resemble a normal internet kiosk.
· Complaint format is menu driven and user friendly. One just has to login and file the complaint under the relevant crime section. Once the complaint is lodged, it will land up at the central command station located at the Police Commissionerate and the relevant police station will be alerted to act upon

· A complaint can be lodged either by voice, typed or hard copy can be scanned

Highlights of Abhayam:
· Abhayam application can be downloaded into any smart phone that operates on Android platform
· It facilitates the reportage of crime within seconds to help women in distress
· Once the application is downloaded all one has to do is to press a pre-determined emergency button and the call will be activated within 10 seconds
· The caller can lodge his or her complaint or problem and the call will be routed through a server at Hyderabad to the Central Command Station. And immediately, the nearest police station or police beat or patrol will be alerted and moved to the location
· If the caller is unable to specify the location, then the location will be tracked through the help of GPS

· The Abhayam app can be downloaded from Google app store or through www.appolice.gov.in website.
