Vaastu-bitten KCR eyes babus' office as new home

 

HYDERABAD: Bitten by the vaastu bug, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to shift his official residence and is eying the sprawling campus housing the IAS Officers' Association office located close to his camp office in Greenlands, angering the babus in the process.

The building was leased out to the association for 33 years in 2000, but the government is going ahead with its plans to take over the land and building, sources confirmed. Indicating that the lease would be cancelled soon, roads and buildings department has started levelling the ground at the rear end of the four-acre plot, where the officer's swimming pool is located.

According to the sources, even if the CM does not move into the building immediately, he would want the office of the bureaucrats' association to be shifted out of the south-west side of his current residence. This is because, as vaastu experts have reportedly told him, the elevated position of the IAS officers' building would mean that the babus would dominate governance.

"For vaastu to work in his favour, the CM should occupy the elevated plot," a source said.

While the Telangana cadre officers have not voiced their dissent so far against the CM's decision, sources said that retired-IAS officers from the Andhra cadre have approached governor E S L Narasimhan to register their protest.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Section 8 (1), the governor would have the final say on the "management and allocation of government buildings in the common capital area."

The fact that the CM has not taken the consent of the governor, has also irked the AP babus. "The association belongs to both Telangana and AP officers. How can the CM of one state take over the building? This is nothing but high-handedness," another source said.

Interestingly, it is not just the AP Reorganization Act that would come in the way of KCR's reported plans to take over the plot. In April 2006, the 125-year-old building was declared a heritage monument. "Chandrasekhar Rao needs to take clearance from heritage committees and other bodies that are responsible for the preservation of heritage sites in the state," the source said. The lush green premises has a basketball court and a swimming pool.

Other officers pointed out that going by ethical code of conduct, the CM should not be taking over the building for the next 10 years, with Hyderabad being the common capital of the two states. "This is a place which is used by all officers residing in Hyderabad. Even retired officers who live close by use the premises for meetings and other programmes. The CM should have considered all this before deciding to annex the plot," another source rued.

అసలు విషయమేమిటంటే ఇరు రాష్ట్రాల మధ్య నెలకొన్న సమస్యలను పరిష్కరించుకోవడానికి గతంలో ఒకసారి గవర్నర్ సమక్షంలో కేసీఆర్, చంద్రబాబు సమావేశమయ్యారు. అప్పుడు ఏపీ రాజధాని గురించి చర్చకు వస్తే కేసీఆర్ చంద్రబాబుకు ఓ సలహా ఇచ్చారు. అమరావతి ప్రాంతంలో రాజధాని అయితే బాగుంటుందని వాస్తు ప్రకారం ఈశాన్యంలో నీళ్లు ప్రవహిస్తూ ఉంటాయని చెప్పారు. ఈ విషయాన్ని అప్పటితో అందరూ మర్చిపోయారు.
కానీ ఇప్పుడు ఏపీ రాజధానిని వాస్తు ప్రకారం అమరావతిలోనే పెట్టాలని తెదేపా సర్కారు నిర్ణయించినట్లు తెలిసింది. ఉత్తర ఈశాన్యంలో కృష్ణానది ప్రవహిస్తూ ఉంటుందని, దానివల్ల రాష్ట్రానికి మహర్దశ పడుతుందని అనుకుంటున్నారు. ఇదివరకు జాతకాలను, దేవుడిని పెద్దగా నమ్మని చంద్రబాబుకూడా ఈ మధ్య దైవ చింతనలో ఎక్కువ కనబడుతున్నారు. అందువల్ల రాజధాని నిర్మాణం వాస్తు ప్రకారమే ఉంటుందని అందరూ అనుకుంటున్నారు. మొత్తంమీద కేసీఆర్ చెప్పినట్లే రాజధానిని అమరావతిలో ఏర్పాటు చేస్తున్నారని.. కేసీఆర్ డిసైడ్ చేసిన అమరావతే రాజధాని అవుతోందని సెటైర్లు వేస్తున్నారు. నిజానికి ఎపుడైనా నది ఊరి పైన ఉండాలి కింద ఉండకూడదు అని అంటారు. ఆ లెక్క ప్రకారం రాజధాని కడుతున్నారేమో.
