Teradata Sql Experts Come: Convert Varchar(250) To Date Format

i am trying to convert varchar(250) to date format 'mm/dd/yyyy' error vasthundi

 

Query : SELECT  CAST(columnA AS DATE FORMAT 'mm-dd-yyyy') FROM table name

 

ERROR MESSAGE:invalid date supplied for column name

 

Nenu chuste i found in the result set column values are not in proper format 'mm/dd/yyyy'

when i do sample 10 above query works but on thw whole table its failing 

result set has column values like below

i dont need those above values how to avoid this records in the query
