Gajji_maraja Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to keep the entire power generated from the two units (2x800 MW) of Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Station (KTPS) to itself and not supply even a single megawatt to Telangana. The official document of ARRs (Average Revenue Requirement), stated that “100 per cent power allocation share of Hinduja and Krishnapatnam considered for AP.” The Hinduja plant at Vizag generates 1040 MW. Both plants together account for 15,581 MU for the next 15 months and this was taken into consideration while preparing the ARRs. The document also stated that power allocation for TS Genco Hydel stations would be considered as per “geographical location” only. This means that the 700 MW power generated at Sileru hydel project will be kept by AP. At the same time, AP discoms have mentioned that they are expecting 46.11 per cent share from “all other power stations” i.e. in Telangana, citing GO 20 of 2014. Though AP government had earlier dropped enough hints that it would not share KTPS power, the Telangana government had hoped that AP would back down after the declaration of CoD. The TS government had earlier even demanded that it be handed over the management of KTPS citing the power sharing formula after bifurcation. AP had rejected it outright stating that the plant was located on its soil and could not be given. Telangana has demanded 53.89 per cent of power from KTPS as per the Reorganization Act but AP has refused it saying that the power-sharing formula itself is faulty and has not taken all aspects into account. AP also contends that the four Rayalaseema districts were not properly accounted in the discoms’ pattern. TS government stated that it had invested nearly Rs 1050 crore in the plant. The TS government is now exploring all options including a legal course.
