MS student deported at Houston airport..

HI Friends:

Mr.X is a Masters student at LSU. He is on Student visa. He had a Dental emergency and as it is expensive here in USA, he went to INDIA to get it fixed and was coming back yesterday. He was stopped in HOUSTON airport. He had valid VISA and STATUS. He is enrolled in online courses.

The visa officer asked him how is he supporting himself as there is no funding from the university. He said that his father is sending the money and living with friends. The INS officer asked for student's personal cell phone and called couple of students from his cell phone book and asked them the question how is supporting himself. Two out of 3 students told the INS office that Mr.X is living with them and they are helping him with bills and also his father is funding him from INDIA. One student replied that he might be working off-campus job.

INS officer at the port of entry said that Mr.X is working illegally and said that he is deporting Mr.X . INS sent Mr.X to ASYLUM jail and booked a flight for tomorrow (WED 4/5/10) at 4:00 PM to INDIA.

Recently there were lot of cases like this. INS is stopping people at the airport and sending them back violating all the appeal rights of the defendant(s).


If any one wud like ot pitch in their experience in this..the ycan get back to NATS organization. at 1.888.4.Telugu

Evado okka friend " he might be working off-campus job." anangane they wouldnt deport someone.

And 1st things 1st, they wouldnt bother calling friends.

And even before that, they wouldnt even care abt your financial support once you are already here.
