Union Finance Ministry today announced the debts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should share after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. According to the Central Government which released the notification, debt of newly formed state of Telangana stood at Rs 61,710 cr.

Andhra Pradesh shared major part of the debts with Rs 86,340 crs. Union Government divided debts according to the population in the two states. Finance Ministry divided Rs 1.48 lakh crore debts incurred from sale of securities, NABARD and small savings.

Government is yet to divide Rs 18.43 cr debts granted by Foreign Finance institutions and Union Government. Accountant General is yet to arrive at a decision on which strategy they should divide the debts. Already officials informed that debts taken from foreign companies for modernization of KC canal will go to AP and for purification of Hussain Sagar and Outer Ring Road will got to Telangana.

New Delhi: The union finance ministry has declared that the AP and Telangana States have to repay Rs.1.48 lakh crores total. The AP government has taken loans from foreign countries and several financial institutions like Nabard etc. in the country for various development activities held in the undivided state until bifurcation of the state. Government of India also grants loans to the state for the same purposes.

So, the union finance ministry has distributed the undisputed loan amount of Rs. 1.48 lakh crores between the two states out of total loan amount of Rs. 1.66 lakh crores.

Andhra Pradesh has to bear Rs.86.34 thousand crores and Telangana state has to bear Rs.61.71 thousand crores.

Accountant general of India will decide how much loan amount is to be allotted to each state in the balance loan amount Rs.18.43 thousand crores, after studying where and how much amount was spent from it.

For example, Telangana government has to bear the loan amount that spent for constructing outer ring road in Hyderabad. Simultaneously, AP government has to repay the loan amount that spent on repairing KC Canal or any development activities done in the Andhra region before bifurcation.
