The other advantage of open sourcing patents is that the charger model and mechanism that Tesla uses is very much different comapred to the rest of the EVs out there and I presume he's hoping to get others to work on it more and make it more universal from his profit-making vantage point. In-house fab, tooling, and Panasonic tie-up is atleast working in their favor to cut down cost/opex

Ridonculous job offers from these firms along the lines of 100k-200k bonus, 150k base etc yeah i've read that news too , and there a rumor going on that Apple is planning to get in to automobile industry as well ( My guess would be Autodriving cars ) .. this news will certainly have a big impact on tesla's stock price
