1) Javed Miandad of Pakistan played in all the first six World Cups.

 

2) In 1999, the trophy won by the Indian cricket team at the 1983 World Cup was damaged during a violent rampage on the BCCI headquarters by Shiv Sena.

 

3) No team had won the World Cup at home until India won it in India in 2011.

 

4) Australia went on a streak between 1999  and 2011 where they did not lose 34 matches in a row. They won 32 of these games, where one ended in a no  result, and the very first one in a tie (against South Africa in the infamous 1999 World Cup semifinal)

 

5) England have never won a World Cup despite reaching the finals thrice. But they have not reached a final or semifinal after 1992.
